Basecamp invites individuals to support our work with the Koiyaki Guiding School and the Naboisho Convervancy in the Masai Mara by signing up as volunteers through our ‘voluntourism’ project.
Through our partnership with African Impact, a specialist organization in volunteering, we have established a voluntourism project at Koiyaki Guiding School (KGS) and with projects at the Naboisho Conservancy. We aim to have about ten volunteers at a time working alongside KGS instructors and Naboisho Conservancy staff in order to assist efforts to empower the Maasai communities to take care of the environment. The first group of volunteers arrived in June 2010.
Volunteers assist teachers at the guiding school by teaching language, culture, administration and computer skills, and promoting the green village concept, including teaching at the Olesere village school. In addition, volunteers participate in a big cat monitoring and elephant research within Naboisho Conservancy, collecting vital data for the conservation of these animals.
